Dawn and Susan’s Compassionate Goodbye

After their dog Minnie was diagnosed with cancer, it wasn’t long before Dawn and Susie’s dog was experiencing more bad days than good. Having already put two dogs to sleep at the vet’s office, they knew they wanted a more peaceful ending for Minnie. The last moments of your pet’s life should be comfortable and peaceful for both you and your pet. The clinic environment can be sterile and stressful for your pet. It is also difficult to grieve while in a waiting room full of people and other animals. Choosing in-home euthanasia allows your pet to feel more relaxed and at peace. You will be more comfortable as well. Dr. Christina is committed to honoring the human-animal bond and supporting pet owners facing the most difficult decision of their pet’s life. Her desire is for each euthanasia to end with the feeling of peace and the reassurance that this was the best decision for the pet. During her schooling, Dr. Christina did an externship with Dr. Robin Downing, owner of Windsor Veterinary Clinic, a Practice of Excellence Award Recipient. There she continued to sharpen her medical skills while practicing compassionate care. Dr. Christina was recognized for her work regarding the human animal bond with a scholarship from the Iam’s Company. She has been a member in excellent standing with the American Veterinary Medical Association for over ten years. Dr. Christina was the first veterinarian to create a service dedicated to in home pet euthanasia. Through the years she has helped other veterinarians start similar practices around the country. She regularly attended Hospice of the Valley’s pet grief support group as a volunteer to offer answers to grieving pet owners. Her years with the pet grief support group deepened her understanding and compassion for those who grieve the loss of a pet. She continues on a as a consultant. Dr. Christina’s mission is to support pet owners in making the best decision for their pet regarding euthanasia. She respects the needs of each individual family and understands that what’s right for one family may not be right for another. Dr. Christina believes in honoring the life of pets by making their passing peaceful and comfortable.
